Isn’t she just fabulous and so underrated?
Janine actually had a point about her being the next Dot (or Pat) type of character, someone who doesn’t really have a storyline of their own but is a big part in everyone else’s. I love her.

100% agreed, I think she's brilliant. Not that she couldn't carry off a big storyline of her own, but I don't think she needs it; what I really want is for her to be involved in lots of stories and being a really central character on the square.

Talking of which, EE have missed a really good opportunity for Sonia to be a supporting role in Lola’s brain tumour.

She's brilliant - one of the most authentic characters on the Square.

She hasn't really had a huge story of her own since she came back (nearly 9 years ago!) but in the early/mid 2000s she was a leading character for a number of years - while I like her flitting in and out of everybody else's dramas, I'd love to see her get her own chance to take centre stage again. She deserves it!

I have no idea why they don’t use her more. Such a fantastic character and Natalie really shines when she gets the chance.

She’s one of the only ones who stands up to janine and her bs. I find Sonia to be a very relatable character.

Natalie Cassidy is fantastic as Sonia. A realistic and relatable character. She has so much history on the Square and, as Dot's surrogate granddaughter, she could continue in the family tradition (Dot, Pat, Carol) of strong and caring women. I think Sonia and Denise are two of the best-acted female characters on the show.

90% of women in EastEnders are great actresses in my opinion. Amazing.

I can only echo what everyone else has said, Sonia is fab!

The little mention of Dot tonight is obviously setting up the news of her death reaching the square soon but, like others have said, I hope it is also a sign of the direction they are taking the character in. Sonia has been a part of the show for over 20 years and has ties to many current residents. Natalie is clearly dedicated to the show and has shown herself a capable actress in the more dramatic parts as well as the lighter moments with making digs at Sharon/Shirley etc. I think that she will inherit Dot's house and evolve into the matriarch of the square role that has been absent since Pat died and Dot's presence decreased until her last appearance.

Next year marks Sonia’s 30th anniversary in EE !

30 years blimey!!! All the more reason why she deserves a special place on the show. Hopefully the new character that they're bringing in as her love interest will be good and I've got a hunch he will be!

I would really like to see the real Terry Cant, who could play him?

The moment she gave birth to Bex in that now iconic scene, an EastEnders legend was born. Natalie Cassidy is a tremendous actress, a true asset to the show. Thank goodness she returned, the square just wasn't the same without her!

She has all the characteristics of EE legend, instantly identifiable image, far from perfect, distinctive voice, self depricating, has this downtrodden characteristic, constantly getting the short straw ,I find it interesting that the casting team were able to see something that could be developed when Natalie was so young. They really got lucky she slowly came into her own, by 2000 she was one of biggest charachters.

My favourite was her relationship with Pauline in 2005/2006 , I know many hate the way Pauline went out after she turned into a horrendous old bitter bitch from hell but I found it hilarious. Pauline kept slapping people, calling them stupid all the time. Pauline's suspicion and passive aggression and scheming against Sonia and protection of Martin after her Lesbian relationship was really funny on rewatch.
