Judge prevents Trump Organization lawyers from filing additional motions

New York Judge Juan Merchan has told the lawyers for the Trump Organization he will not accept any additional motions from them.

The judge said he will deny any further motions from the defense after they submitted 18 exhibits at around midnight Sunday, per CNN.

“It’s almost as though you really don’t want me to rule on the issue,” Merchan told Trump Corp. lawyer Susan Necheles in court Monday. “It’s almost as though you don’t want me to get it right. I’m not accepting any filings anymore from the Trump Corporation, period.”

The filings made late Sunday evening were related to materials the defense wanted to introduce when questioning Mazars accountant Donald Bender on Monday.

Two entities under the Trump Organization, one of which is Trump Corp., are being accused of defrauding tax collectors by not reporting or paying taxes on employee compensation over a 15-year period.

The prosecutors have charged the two entities with nine counts of tax fraud, grand larceny, and falsifying business records. The companies have pleaded not guilty.

The lawsuit is part of the bevy of legal troubles for the Trump Organization and for former President Donald Trump, who recently announced he is running for president again in 2024.
