The polls are open!

It's time to vote for the Volusia-Flagler-St. Johns Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 21-26. Athletes for all in-season sports are eligible.

Last week, Seabreeze soccer player Kylie Watson took home the honor, claiming 45% of the votes.

The News-Journal and Record gather nominees from scores and stats emailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across the area. Coaches can email nominees to sports@news-jrnl.com.

Voting begins each Monday and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour.

Basketball

Ponte Vedra guard Morgan Gavazzi (1) helped Ponte Vedra to a 2-0 record last week.

Javius Burrell, Matanzas: Burrell recorded back-to-back double-doubles, racking up 23 total points and 24 rebounds.

Kelly Cramer, St. Joseph: Cramer helped the Flashes stay undefeated with 20 points, eight assists and seven steals against Matanzas.

Morgan Gavazzi, Ponte Vedra: In the Sharks’ two victories last week, Gavazzi totaled 40 points, nine boards and seven steals.

Connor McCardel, New Smyrna Beach: The senior led the Barracudas in points (18), rebounds (six), assists (six) and steals (six) in their win against Cocoa Beach.

Anovia Sheals, Mainland: The junior compiled 30 points and seven rebounds in a Buccaneers victory over Valor Christian.

Soccer

Sebastian DeLeon, Matanzas: The sophomore headed in the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Flagler Palm Coast.

Brogan Donnelly, Nease: Donnelly, a senior, scored a goal and tied for the Panthers’ team lead in steals with 12 in a 2-0 win over Menendez.

Peyton O’Keefe, Tocoi Creek: The junior scored both of the Toros’ goals in their 2-2 tie against Fleming Island.
