Police announced an arrest Monday evening after a violent car chase and shooting spree wound its way through Seaside earlier in the day.
Police responded to reports of gunfire in Seaside shortly before noon on Monday. An investigation by Seaside police found that the shooting began on Yosemite Street, near San Pablo Avenue, a single block away from an elementary school.
In total, more than 40 rounds were found between Yosemite Street and Broadway, police reported.
“We heard cars speed race between two cars. It was pretty crazy,” said one witness.

Police say the chase continued down San Pablo Avenue with more gunfire near Flores. Another round of shots was unleashed near Noche Buena, just around the corner from the Boys and Girls Club and a popular skate park.
Monday evening, fewer than nine hours after the initial incident, police reported that both vehicles were in police custody and one person was arrested.
The suspect was identified as Anthony Johnson, by police on Tuesday.
