Three Tulsa Volleyball Players Named To Academic All-District Team

Kayley Cassaday, Avery Kalsu and Marta Pecalli were named to the 2022 Academic All-District Volleyball Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. This honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
Cassaday, a senior outside hitter from Overland Park, Kan., maintains a 4.0 GPA in mechanical engineering. She completed the season with 525 kills to move to 1,281 career kills, the fourth-most all-time in program history. Cassaday also recorded 1,646 total attacks this year, which marks the second-highest effort in a single season in Tulsa history.
 
A junior setter from Dripping Springs, Texas., Kalsu has a 3.952 GPA in exercise and sports science. On the court this season, she tallied 655 assists, 358 digs, 131 kills, 24 blocks and 21 service aces. She finished the year with a team-leading 14 double-doubles, including a triple-double at Cincinnati, where she registered 14 assists, 13 digs and 12 kills.
 
Pecalli, a sophomore libero from Trieste, Italy, maintains a 4.0 GPA in biology. She put up 573 total digs as well as 155 assists. With an average of 4.9 digs per set, she helped the Golden Hurricane average 18.27 team digs per set—the second-highest average in the country. She was tabbed The American's Defensive Player of the Week twice and made the conference Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 26.
