PITTSBURGH — An arrest warrant was issued for a man accused of shooting a woman and leaving her on an Interstate 579 ramp with a gunshot wound Monday.

According to Pittsburgh police, the couple was driving from I-579 to Boulevard of the Allies and the off-ramp is where police say Kevin Crew shot the woman.

Crew is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and a series of weapons violations after police say he shot the woman and then stranded her on a busy Pittsburgh roadway.

Investigators say Crew then shot the woman in the leg while she was driving.

The police report states that Kevin Crew and the woman were driving from a Northview Heights home to her workplace when he accused her of “not being truthful with him.”

She parked the car on the exit ramp from I-579 to the Boulevard of the Allies and got out. Police say Crew then jumped in the driver’s seat and took off.

Students we spoke to at nearby Duquesne University were shocked to hear what happened.

“It’s very sad and disheartening that someone would feel so angrily and so upsetting towards someone else to be able to do such a horrible thing,” said Emmala Lee.

Emergency responders rushed the woman to the hospital in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to a serious but stable condition.

Court filings state that Crew and the woman had a history of disputes. She filed for a protective order in 2011 that had since expired.
