Bad News – Good News for Southwest Harbor
A little less than a year after SIPS Restuarant closed for good in Southwest Harbor (April 15, 2022), the owners of SIPS 2.0 announced that they would be closing for good too. They are having a "Restaurant Unload Sale" this Friday and Saturday, January 20 and 21 with everything half off. This includes all remaining prepared food, equipment, pantry items, kitchen utensils etc. They will be open between 10 a.m and 2 p.m each day.

Crazy Sumo, opens to the public in the old Denny's in Ellsworth on Monday January 23rd! We were invited in for a sneak peek and meal on Sunday, and it was delicious!. The change in the restaurant from Denny's to Crazy Sumo is extensive! We sat at 1 of the 6 hibachi grill tabletops. Each one seats 10 and Chef Happy put on a show! If you're going to sit at a hibachi grill plan on a hour and fifteen minutes from start to finish, but we were laughing and eating the entire time!
Lamoine Select Board Grants 5-year-Old, Brielle, Unicorn Permit
On Friday, we told you the heart-warming story of 5-year-old Brielle Hamor who had applied to the Town of Lamoine for a permit to have a unicorn in her backyard. After receiving the application, Lamoine Administrative Assistant Stu Marckoon placed the application on the January 19 Lamoine Select Board's agenda.

The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce released the following statement, on Friday, January 20th regarding the resignation of Gretchen Wilson as Executive Director. The Board of Directors of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce announces the resignation of Gretchen Wilson from the position of Executive Director. Ellsworth High School Swim Team Senior Recognition Night [PHOTOS]
Prior to the Swim Meet with Hampden Academy, Bucksport and Sumner, Ellsworth High School honored the seniors and their parents at the Downeast Family YMCA. City of Ellsworth Looking for Citizens to Serve on Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee
The City of Ellsworth is seeking community members to volunteer as members of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. The comprehensive plan is a guiding blueprint for the City that embodies the values, priorities, and future needs of the community as a whole, while also protecting its history and natural resources. The plan will cover future land use, zoning, expansion of utilities, economic development, transportation, housing, and regional coordination.
MDI Girls Fall to Hermon 50-43 [STATS]
The MDI Girls dug themselves too big of a hole and despite outscoring Hermon 19-10 in the 4th Quarter, fell to the Hermon Hawks 50-43 in Hermon on Tuesday, January 24th. Hermon led 11-4 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 21-15 at the end of the 1st Half. Hermon outscored MDI 19-9 in the 3rd Quarter, to lead 40-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.
MDI Boys Rain Down 12 3’s and Beats Hermon 60-42 [STATS]
The MDI Boys Basketball Team jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back, raining down 12 3-pointers and beat the Hermon Hawks in Hermon on Wednesday night, January 25th. MDI led 17-8 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 30-19 at the end of the 1st Half. The Trojans led 44-27 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.
