Hayfield man sentenced to jail time, supervised probation on felony DWI charge in Mower County District Court

A Hayfield man who pleaded guilty to a felony DWI charge in Mower County District Court after a traffic stop on January 17th of this year has been sentenced to jail time and supervised probation.

44-year old Dwight David Blanchard was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail and seven years of supervised probation for a felony charge of DWI, refusal to submit to a chemical test.  A 54-month prison sentence was stayed for seven years if Blanchard complies with the 23 different conditions of his probation, and he was given credit for four days already served.  Blanchard first pleaded guilty to the charge on June 10th, and he was convicted on September 15th.

Blanchard was also convicted and sentenced back on September 15th to a year of supervised probation for a misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process, interfere with a peace officer.  A 90-day jail sentence was stayed for one year if Blanchard complies with the terms of his probation, and he first pleaded guilty to the charge on June 10th.

A felony charge for DWI, operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a gross misdemeanor charge for driving after revocation, inimical to public safety and a misdemeanor 5th degree assault charge in the case against Blanchard were all dismissed with his guilty pleas.
