Tuesday's Game Opens Big 12-BIG EAST Battle

Marquette's matchup with Baylor is the first of 10 games this season in the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle series, now in its fourth season.

The games begin Nov. 29 and conclude Dec. 4 when West Virginia faces Xavier.    Marquette is 2-1 all-time in the event, defeating Kansas State twice (W, 73-65 - 12/7/19 | W, 64-63 - 12/8/21) and falling to Oklahoma State (L, 70-62 - 12/1/20).

Marquette is 1-1 all-time against Baylor, most recently claiming a 72-68 win in overtime on Dec. 11, 1999 to conclude a home-and-home series.  The Bears earned a 74-64 win on Dec. 19, 1998 in Waco.

Prosper Doubles Up For First Time

Already in possession of a career-best 31-point effort earlier this season against LIU, forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper picked up another personal-bes performance Saturday night against Chicago State.

Prosper collected his first-career double-double, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds in 31 minutes of action.  His rebound total marked a career high and he finished 6-of-12 from the floor and four of his boards came at the offensive end.

For the season, Prosper is shooting 54.7 percent from the floor and is second on the roster in rebounding (5.4 rpg.).

Freshman Duo Having Impact At Both Ends

Freshman guards Sean Jones and Chase Ross have both had impact moments early on in 2022-23 and as a result have seen increased minutes in recent outings.

Jones netted a personal-best 11 points in the win over Georgia Tech and has played 20-or-more minutes in each of the last two outings.  Ross also owns a double-figure game (11, vs. CMU), but had his best all-around game to date vs. Chicago State, finishing with eight points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist in 22 minutes of action.
