Cade McNamara has officially announced he’s in the transfer portal for Michigan after the 2022 season and some are speculating where the former starter will end up. A lot of the suspected teams are within the B1G with the Iowa Hawkeyes being a possible contender.

McNamara had a successful career as a Wolverine with the 2021 season being his strongest showing as the starter. He threw for 2,470 yards for a 64 completion rate finishing with 15 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

College football insider Bruce Feldman also listed Iowa as an early program to keep an eye on for McNamara in the portal.

McNamara only averaged 23 attempts a game in the regular season and was what a lot would call a “game manager.” He controlled the offense and did just enough to help Jim Harbaugh control the game with a strong rushing attack.

Iowa has struggled this year on offense and currently is ranked second to last in the nation in Total Offense. Most if not all of Iowa’s success has come from the defensive side of the ball this year and despite consistently poor field position ranks in the top 5 nationally.

McNamara becoming a Hawkeye would provide a lot of stability and experience that potentially could help solve some of Iowa’s offensive issues.
