Firefighters put out kitchen fire in Medford

MEDFORD, Ore. —
Medford Fire Department says crews responded to a residential structure fire over the weekend.

According to officials, the fire started and was quickly contained to the home's kitchen area. Everyone living in the home was able to exit safely with no reported injuries.
Fire officials believe the fire was caused by improper disposal of hot materials in a trash can.
The home had a single, non-functioning smoke alarm that was over ten years old. The fire crew installed working smoke alarms in the home before leaving the scene.
Medford Fire Department wants to remind you to check your fire alarms regularly.
