CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A St. Louis man is charged with home invasion and beating a stranger in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood on Thanksgiving night.

Chicago police said at about 10:40 p.m. a man forced his way into a home near Devon and Oakley.

Prosecutors said 33-year-old Al’ Aswan McKay donkey kicked the front door open and beat the resident with a metal baton in the head until the victim stabbed him with a kitchen knife, CWB Chicago reported. Then, McKay and another man ran off.

Doctors used staples and stitches to close the victim’s head wounds while police followed a trail of blood to find McKay a few blocks away.  He was arrested and taken to the hospital.

Police said he and his brother who was with him had never met the victim and didn’t give a motive for the attack.
