CASPER, Wyo. — Snow is falling in Wyoming and is impacting travel in some areas, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.

Heavy snow is also expected in other areas of Wyoming on Monday and Tuesday, with 5–10 inches possible along Interstate 80 between Rawlins and Laramie, according to the NWS in Cheyenne. Snow along the I-80 corridor in southeast Wyoming is expected to occur between 11 a.m. Monday and 2 p.m. Tuesday and could lead to dangerous travel conditions, according to the NWS in Cheyenne.

The Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges could see 12–18 inches, with as much as 2 feet of snow possible above 9,500 feet between 5 p.m. Monday and 11 p.m. Tuesday.

“Mountain travel will become extremely dangerous or impossible due to icy, snow-packed roads and very low visibilities in falling and blowing snow,” the NWS in Cheyenne said. “Outdoor recreation could become life threatening to those caught unprepared for severe winter conditions. Hikers and snowmobilers may easily become disoriented. Frostbite and hypothermia can develop quickly.”
