RCPD IDs drivers injured in Thanksgiving night crash

MANHATTAN —Two people were injured in an accident Thanksgiving night in Manhattan.

Just after 11:30p.m. Thursday, a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Jose Orona, 25, Manhattan, was northbound on Seth Child Road at Anderson Avenue, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

The vehicle crossed from from the inside lane into the outside lane and struck the rear of a 2006 Toyota Highlander driven by Sabrina Reyes, 21, Manhattan. The impact caused the SUV to strike the guard rail, and roll several times coming to a stop upside down on an embankment near the shoulder.

The Mitsubishi spun several times, and came to a stop in the southbound lanes. EMS transported both driver to Via Christi - Reyes for evaluation of general soreness with no serious injuries. 

Orona was later air-lifted to to Stormont Vail in Topeka for treatment of a severe head laceration and dislocated hip, he is expected to recover, according to the RCPD.
