AND WITH THE HOLIDAY SHOPPING SEASON RAMPING UP HERE IN CENTRAL ALABAMA AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY, RETAIL WORKERS WILL BE FACING BIG CROWDS WALKING THROUGH THEIR TO SHOP WVTM 13 APP PATSY DOUGLAS LIVE AT THE GREEN RIVER OUTLETS AND LEADS IN A PATSY. I KNOW WORKERS THERE. THEY HAVE BEEN SO BUSY ALL WEEKEND LONG. YES, ALL WEEKEND LONG. WE SAW THOSE BLACK FRIDAY LINES AND GOING TO CONTINUE TO HAPPEN, ESPECIALLY IN DECEMBER AND THE HOLIDAY. THOSE MANAGERS REALLY TRYING TO SURE THAT THEY HAVE ENOUGH STAFF TO ACCOMMODATE THE CROWDS THAT WILL BE COMING THROUGH THOSE STORE DOORS HERE AT OUTLET UP AT GRAND RIVER IN LEEDS ABOUT 25% OF THEIR SALES WILL HAPPEN BETWEEN MID-NOVEMBER AND THE END OF DECEMBER. MANY RETAIL WORKERS IN EARLY STAYING LATE AND EVEN SOME STORES HAVING OVERNIGHT CREWS TO HELP ORGANIZE THE STORE FOR SHOPPERS. STORE MANAGER FOR A MOUNTAIN HIGH OUTFITTERS SAYS A LOT OF THEIR EMPLOYEES ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL AND NEW TO THE RETAIL INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE. WE DO PRICE UPDATES EVERY DAY, SO MAKING NEW TAGS EVERY DAY, CHECKING IN EMPLOYEES EVERY DAY. YOU KNOW, WE’VE HAD A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT SICK RECENTLY, SO WE’RE JUST DOING OUR BEST TO HANG IN THERE TODAY. WHAT I WROTE ON OUR LIKE ENTRY BOARD FOR ALL THE EMPLOYEES WAS JUST BREATHE. IT’S JUST SELLING CLOTHING. LOVE THAT, LOVE THAT. NOW, CUSTOMERS DRIVING ON AVERAGE ABOUT 50 MILES TO, THE OUTLET SHOPS ON GREEN RIVER IN LEEDS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON. NOW, RIGHT NOW, THEIR STORE EMPLOYEE IS TAKING TRAINING PROCEDURES SERIOUSLY, MANAGE THE CROWDS THAT WILL BE COMING THROUGH THOSE DOORS. Retail workers are facing a busy holiday season in Central Alabama as big crowds walk through their doors to shop. Managers are making sure they have enough staff to accommodate the crowds. At the Outlet Shops of Grand River in Leeds, about 25% of their sales will happen between mid-November and the end of December. Many retail workers come in early, staying late, and some stores even have overnight crews to help organize the store for shoppers. The store manager of Mountain High Outfitters, Natalie Callahan, says a lot of their employees are in high school and new to the retail industry as a whole. “I try to keep them motivated. Little competition and stuff. Buying breakfast. It’s a lot to take on. As much as I can take the stress out, I try to,” Natalie Callahan said.On average, customers are driving about 50 miles to the Outlet Shops of Grand River in Leeds during the holiday season. Right now, their store employees are taking training procedures seriously to manage the crowds that will be coming through the doors.They encourage shoppers to be kind to those retail workers who are putting in the work to make sure things stay afloat.
