Suffolk officials have introduced a new bill that would restrict the use of exotic animals for traveling performances.
The move comes after Sloth Encounters Long Island in Hauppauge began offering private home visits, after the business location was shut down by the Town of Islip.
The legislature proposed the bill that would ban exotic animals from being brought to schools, parties or any kind of pet show.
John DiLeonardo, of Humane Long Island, says the animals belong in the wild, not in a person’s home.
The owner of Sloth Encounters Larry Wallach tells News 12 he will fight the proposed legislation because he has federal permits that allow him to operate the business with the sloths.
