According to the coroner's office, the body was found in a room of the Motel 6 on Boyscout Rd. The sheriff's office says the call came in just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, deputies found a man dead in one of the rooms.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - Operations are back to normal in downtown Augusta after a train derailed late Tuesday night. According to CSX, the incident happened around 11:00 P.M. near the courthouse on 11th Street. A CSX train derailed nine rail cars, but all stayed upright. Crews of workers and large equipment are being brought in for clean up and recovery. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says the clean up will shut down a one mile square block in the 11th St. and Walton Way area this morning. Seek an alternate route, if possible.

The coroner's office has identified the victim as eighty-one-year-old Lewis Melson of Sylvania. Melson was taken to Augusta University Medical Center from the scene of the crash ad pronounced dead shortly before 10:30 a.m.

RCSO says it was called out to the area at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday morning in reference to a shooting. Once on scene, deputies found an unresponsive male that had been shot at least twice.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WFXG) - The family of a Columbia County boy attacked by dogs is suing the animals' owners. Attorneys for Ericka and Justin Gilstrap filed a complaint in Columbia County Superior Court Monday. Justin was attacked by three dogs while riding his bike near his home in early January.

According to the incident report, deputies responded to a home on Brothersville Rd for reports of a damaged window in the early morning hours of Jan. 28. The victim says she checked her security cameras and saw fifty-one-year-old Lawrence Glover placing something on her car just before her window was broken.
