RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Raleigh Police are investigating after a man was shot in the North Hills Shopping Center on Sunday night.

The victim was taken to a hospital with what police described as a non-life-threatening injury.

There is no threat to the community, a police spokesperson told ABC11.

Crime-scene tape was visible around the Renaissance Hotel on Main Street and the big Christmas tree near the entrance to the shopping center.

The crime scene tape was removed late Sunday night and the last of the officers cleared the area.

But this investigation was far from over since it took place in a shopping center surrounded by stores and restaurants

For hours on Sunday evening, officers saturated North Hills Shopping Center working to determine what led up to the shooting.

Much of their investigation centered around one section of the shopping center just beyond the big Christmas tree.

People who were out shopping questioned their safety because the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.

The investigation did not stop business in the area. Shops and restaurants remained open.

The identity of the victim and whether there are any suspects have not been released, but police have said the individuals involved know each other.
