Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson has had quite the season, and even the Carolina Panthers are mocking him amidst his unfavorable performances.

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson hasn’t set a good image for himself this season as he’s failed to perform well essentially all season. In his Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, he let the team down and got into a heated sideline exchange with teammate Mike Purcell.

His teammates aren’t the only ones going hard on him, however. Panthers defensive end Brian Burns also took shots at Wilson by mocking him on the field following a sack.

Burns set a new career-best during Sunday’s game with 10 sacks so far this season with his previous best being nine.

Wilson, on the other hand, is definitely on his way to setting some career worsts as he goes through the final stretch of the season. He’s gaining attention for all the wrong reasons as he was a reliable veteran quarterback with the Seattle Seahawks.

Russell Wilson just can’t seem to find his rhythm with the Broncos

One of the most frustrating things about Wilson this season is that he’s not consistent. In the Week 10 game against the Tennessee Titans, Wilson had a rough performance with 21 completions of 42 attempts for a completion percentage of 50.

In Week 11, his numbers shot up significantly to 24 completions of 31 attempts for a completion percentage of 77.4. He’s still not doing quite what Denver needs him to do as they’ve only won three games this season, and he was a lot more reliable with the Seahawks.

The Broncos have struggled to replace Peyton Manning, and while Wilson has never been as good as Manning, some of his past numbers suggest he could be comparable. Wilson had a particularly great season in 2020 resulting in 384 completions of 558 attempts for a completion percentage of 68.8 over 4,212 yards, an average of 7.5 yards per pass and 40 touchdowns.

Seasons like that are certainly comparable to Manning, and while that was hands-down the best season of Wilson’s career, he’s consistently produced results not too far below that until this season.

He’s severely underperforming upon coming to Denver, and unfortunately, it’s turning into a complete meme across the league.
