MADISON, Wis. — If the Badgers want to reclaim Paul Bunyan’s Axe, they’ll have to do it without their top running back.
Braelon Allen is out for Saturday’s game against Minnesota with a right leg injury. The sophomore had been dealing with a lingering injury over the past few weeks but was playing through it.

Allen has notched over 1,100 rushing yards this season and 10 rushing touchdowns. He’s also posted 104 receiving yards on 11 catches.
The loss of the Fond Du Lac native will put more weight on the shoulders of Chez Mellusi and Issac Guerendo.
Mellusi missed a few games this season with his own injuries but has posted 321 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on 77 carries. Guerendo has found the endzone 5 times for the badgers this season on 58 carries, including an 89-yard touchdown run against Maryland.
The Badgers will look to end an up-and-down regular season on a high note when they take on Minnesota at Camp Randall Stadium. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. CT.
