After dominating the Michigan Wolverines for two decades in their annual rivalry showdown, the Ohio State Buckeyes suffered a blowout loss to the Wolverines on Saturday and have now lost back-to-back games in the series for the first time since defeating the Buckeyes in 1999 and against in 2000. Ohio State fans were obviously frustrated with the loss, and the comments from head coach Ryan Day after the game certainly didn’t help.
During the postgame press conference, Ryan Day took the opportunity to stump for his team to make the College Football Playoff even despite the loss.
Ryan Day on the possibility of still making the College Football Playoff: “I think if we got a shot at the top four, we’d be a dangerous team.”

“I think if we got a shot at the top four, we’d be a dangerous team,” Day said after the game, according to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors.
Ryan Day isn’t necessarily wrong. Ohio State very well could still make the College Football Playoff if either the TCU Horned Frogs or the USC Trojans lose during next weekend’s conference championship games. The Buckeyes are ranked No. 5 in the latest AP Poll and will likely be ranked near that position when Tuesday’s playoff rankings are released.
But that isn’t exactly what Ohio State fans wanted to hear after the Buckeyes lost to their bitter rivals for the second year in a row.

They could be a dangerous team with a good coach. https://t.co/gYab97pu3d

USC and Caleb would light us up through the air, Michigan would run us into the ground with Corum back, Georgia would just destroy us all around, we do not deserve to be in the top 4. https://t.co/ufnBK2weRv

If Ohio State does make the playoff, they could have a shot to avenge this year’s loss to Michigan.
