Authorities have arrested a man who is accused of trying to break into a residence, wielding an axe.

Ephrata Police Department says that on Oct. 29 at around 11:51 a.m., a partially masked 30-year-old Keron Shockley attempted to gain access into someone's apartment on the first block of Washington Ave.

Police say that Shockley had been carrying an axe and used the weapon to break out the windows and door of the home.

Officials say that the resident, who was home at the time, then began screaming which had caused Shockley to leave before he was able to enter the apartment.

Before fleeing the area however, reports reveal that Shockley had broken another window as well as smashed out the windshield of a car with the axe.

After gathering video footage and taking numerous witness statements, police were able to identify Shockley and arrested him on Nov. 27 at 2:10 p.m.

At this time, Shockley has posted bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing for the charge of criminal attempt to commit burglary.
