3 injured in South Carolina shooting

BLUFFTON, S.C. — Three people in South Carolina were wounded early Sunday morning after the vehicle they were in was fired upon, authorities said.

According to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, first responders arrived at the scene at about 5:08 a.m. Police arriving at the scene found a red Dodge Charger that had been damaged by gunfire, according to The Island Packet.

Deputies believe the man was shot in one of his legs, the sheriff’s office said.

There were three people inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Two of the victims were taken to an area hospital, but the third victim, a man, left the scene, WSAV-TV reported.

The car was hit multiple times on all sides except for the driver’s side, Maj. Angela Viens, a sheriff’s office spokesperson, told The Island Packet.

The two people taken to the hospital were treated and released, according to the newspaper. The third shooting victim has not been located.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.

Deputies said an investigation is ongoing.
