SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – A Suffolk County Police Officer is gaining the reputation of being a bonafide baby whisperer after assisting in another emergency baby delivery.
During this Thanksgiving weekend, a Shirley woman has a great deal to be grateful for with the birth of her son, Owen, who was delivered in dramatic fashion by SCPD officers on Saturday.
Rebecca Reyes was in labor and was unable to make it to the hospital, so police were called to her residence. Conor Diemer, a police officer from the Seventh Precinct, responded to the house and assisted Reyes in lying down in the living room. Along with him were Officers Jadin Rodriguez, Zachary Vormittag, and Sergeant Jon-Erik Negron. At 10:25 a.m., Rebecca gave birth to her third child, Owen. Several minutes later, Shirley Community Ambulance personnel arrived to cut the umbilical cord and transport the healthy mother and baby to Stony Brook University Hospital.
Even though Rebecca is taking part in her third delivery, there is one person in the room who has her beat. Sgt. Negron has been involved in five baby deliveries as a member of the SCPD, earning the nickname “Baby Delivery Whisperer.”
