For the eighth consecutive year, Baltimore has surpassed 300 homicides.

Since 2015, there have been at least 2,632 homicides in the city. This is more than the number of sworn officers within the entire Baltimore City Police Department.
The following are homicide statistics over the years:
- 2015: 342
- 2016: 318
- 2017: 342
- 2018: 309
- 2019: 348
- 2020: 335
- 2021: 338
Former FBI Agent, Tyrone Powers, said he believes people tend to focus more on the number rather than the lives that are lost.
"I think if the Mayor had to go to the funeral of every single victim, then there would become a greater sense of urgency," Powers said.

Powers added that since the Police Department is under staffed, the city should use force multiple, having the city council members become involved.
