Hurricanes to induct Cam Ward into team's Hall of Fame

The Carolina Hurricanes announced on Saturday that goaltender Cam Ward will be the fourth player inducted into their Hall of Fame, joining Rod Brind'Amour, Ron Francis and Glen Wesley.

Ward, 38, was drafted by the Hurricanes in the first-round in 2002 and went on to appear in parts of 13 seasons for them. In 668 games, Ward had a record of 318-244-84, with a 2.70 GAA, a .909 save percentage and 27 shutouts.

Late in his rookie campaign, Ward took over the starting role from Martin Gerber and helped lead the Hurricanes to their first and so far only Stanley Cup in franchise history. For his efforts, he was named winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Ward will be officially honoured during Carolina's inaugural Hall of Fame night on February 16th against the Montreal Canadiens.
