Kasey White, the president of the organization, wanted to give people the opportunity to come together and remember their loved ones, who are no longer with us.

All Glory to God: Elmira couple celebrates 70 years of marriage
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- While January 31st is just another day of the week for most of us, one couple in Elmira is celebrating a big milestone. "It was a mutual agreement to get married because we’ve known each other for so long. It was like there wasn’t anyone else for us," said Shirley Mather, who has been married to her husband Francis, for the last 70 years.

Schuyler County Historical Exhibit pays respect to Vietnam War Veterans
MONTOUR FALLS N.Y., (WENY) -- January 27th, 2023 marks the 50th anniversary since the signing of the Paris Peace Accords. The treaty was meant to establish peace in Vietnam, and it ended the United States formal involvement in the war. At the Schuyler County Historical Society, they opened an exhibit to honor the date.

Vietnam Veterans Reflect on 50th Anniversary of Paris Peace Accords
ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- Fifty years ago on January 27th, 1973, the United States signed the Paris Peace Accords, which effectively ended the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. The peace treaty was signed by the United States, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of Vietnam, and the Republic of South Vietnam. The negotiations were years in the making, starting in 1968 before they were signed in 1973 at the International Conference Center in Paris, France.

Elmira Man Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter
ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) - An Elmira man plead guilty to manslaughter stemming from a car accident back in 2022. Jonathan Roberts, 32, of Elmira, pled guilty to Manslaughter in the Tompkins County court on Friday. According to the Tompkins County District Attorney's office, the other charges include Reckless Driving, Criminally Negligent Homicide and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Incident Without Reporting.
