UNC women's soccer punches ticket to College Cup with win

The UNC Women’s soccer team has proved doubters wrong all season long here in 2022. And on Saturday, they shut out Notre Dame on the road to punch their ticket to the College Cup.

The No. 2 Tar Heels took down the No. 1 Fighting Irish 2-0 in South Bend, advancing to the program’s 31st College Cup. It was a huge win for the Tar Heels who were dominant throughout the game.

Ally Sentnor netted the first goal in the 21st minute, driving a header into the back of the net. From there, UNC controlled the game and held off the Fighting Irish.

Talia Dellaperuta would add the final goal, a 47th-minute strike for the Tar Heels. Notre Dame made a push in the second half but UNC’s defense and keeper Emmie Allen was able to fight off a flurry of shots.

The Tar Heels will play defending national champion Florida State on Friday.
