BE AND WE WILL NOT TOLERATE VIOLENCE. WITH BLACK FRIDAY BEHIND US, TODAY IS SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY. IT’S A WAY TO CELEBRATE SMALLER AND OFTENTIMES LOCAL BUSINESSES. THE URBAN LEAGUE AND MILLIONAIRE MARKETPLACE PARTNERED FOR A DAY OF SHOPPING AT THE NORTON HEALTHCARE SPORTS AND LEARNING CENTER TODAY. DOZENS OF LOCAL BUSINESSES TOOK PART, SELLING EVERYTHING FROM CLOTHING AND HATS TO SOAPS AND BODY CARE ITEMS AND ACCESSORIES. THAT’S SUPER IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS. THE MONEY CIRCULATES MORE IN OUR COMMUNITY THAN WE DO. IF YOU GO TO A BIG BOX WITH WE APPRECIATE THE BIG BOXES AS WELL, BUT WE GOT TO KEEP OUR LOCAL RESIDENTS EMPLOYED. BUILDING WEALTH. SO BUILDING WEALTH THROUGH THESE WOMEN OWNED BUSINESSES RIGHT HERE, BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES IS SUPER CRITICALLY. AND IN EAST LOUISVILLE, CHECK THIS OUT. SHOPPERS SPENT THE DAY AT NORTON COMMONS, NEARLY 30 BOUTIQUES, SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS TOOK PART IN SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY, OFFERING GIVEAWAYS, DISCOUNTS, DEALS. BUSINESS OWNERS SAY THE DAY ALWAYS BRINGS OUT LOYAL CUSTOMERS AS WELL AS A LOT OF NEW FACES. IT ALMOST MAKES US EMOTIONAL WHEN WE THINK ABOUT AND WE LOOK BACK ON OUR SMALL SATURDAY EXPERIENCES AS TO HAVE OUR CUSTOMERS AND THE COMMUNITY COME OUT AND SUPPORT US IN SUCH BIG WAYS. IT’S JUST IT IS A CHRISTMAS AND IT’S ALIVE AND WELL AT OUR CHRISTMAS SEASON AND NORTON COMMONS, THE FOLKS OVER THERE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED NEXT SATURDAY IS THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE, FEATURING ANOTHER ROUND OF BARGAINS, CARRIAGE

The Urban League and Melanaire Marketplace partnered up for a special day of shopping at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center.On Saturday, dozens of local businesses took part- selling everything from clothing and hats, to soaps and body care items, and accessories."It's super important to support small businesses the money circulates more in our community than if we go to a big box store. While we appreciate the big boxes, as well, but we gotta keep our local residents employed and building wealth. So building wealth in these women-owned and Black-owned business is super critical," said Mayor Greg Fischer. Since its start in 2010, Small Business Saturday has become one of the busiest shopping days for local businesses.In east Louisville, shoppers spent the day at Norton Commons.Nearly 30 boutiques, shops and restaurants took part in Small Business Saturday, offering giveaways, discounts, and deals.Business owners say the day always brings out loyal customers, as well as lots of new faces.Breanne Hafling, owner of Something Blue said, "It almost makes us emotional when we think about and look back on our Small Business Saturday experiences. To have our customers and the community come out to support us in such big ways is alive and well this Christmas season."Next Saturday, Norton Commons will host the annual holiday open house featuring another round of bargains, carriage rides and photos with Santa.
