SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – It’s the first big weekend of holiday shopping. For Linda Linduski, her daughter is helping people in Sun Prairie deck the halls this year at Carpe Diem Boutique.
“She has a fabulous business,” said Linduski. ” She has clothing, decor, beautiful Christmas ornaments, just a ton of variety.”
She says on Small Business Saturday, shopping local is the perfect way to start the season of giving.
“You feel good about it too because your helping that business, and the entire community,” said Linduski.
Jeff Gauger, the owner of Beans and Cream Coffeehouse, says there’s no better way to spend money than by giving back.
“A lot of people have been out supporting, we’ve been busy,” said Gauger. “When people support beans and cream, the money stays right here.”
The fun just isn’t for the businesses, it’s for the customers, too. People could pick up a passport like this and go to any participating business for a chance to win prizes.
“We really wanted to help amplify all the retail businesses who really depend on this holiday shopping season,” said Gauger
Even though Saturday was the big day to raise awareness for local shopping, the goal is for the holiday spirit to support these small shops all year long.
“It’s a good way to get people in your business and spread cheer,” said Linduski.
