All lanes were closed at Loop 375 and Fonseca westbound after a serious crash in the El Paso's Lower Valley Saturday.
Police reported a 12-year-old child from Mexico died as a result of being hit by a vehicle.
The child was crossing the roadway with a 27-year-old woman from Mexico, according to police.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the driver of a 2009 Ford F-250 had struck the two females.
Police revealed that the two females were mother and daughter who were crossing the highway with others.
The 12-year-old girl died at the hospital from her injuries.
The 27-year old did not suffer any visible injuries, according to police.
It was reported that other pedestrians were also attempting to cross at the time.
This crash is the 67th traffic fatality for the year, as compared to 64 during the same period last year.
