Frederick County holds contest to redesign flag as part of 275th jubilee
Frederick County, Maryland, is holding a contest to redesign its grand old flag as part of the county’s 275th anniversary. Through March 31, those who live or have lived in the county can submit their design by emailing 275@frederickcountymd.gov. The county allows one submission per person, and anyone younger than 18 years old will need a to submit parental consent form.

Vienna limits pickleball play because of noise
The town council of Vienna, Virginia, voted 5 to 2 Monday night to limit pickleball from seven to three days a week at the popular courts in Glyndon Park. Effective March 1, pickleball play will be limited to Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on the other four days, courts will be available for tennis. Metro worker dead, 3 injured after shootings at Potomac Avenue station
A Metro mechanic is dead and three other people are injured after a gunman opened fire at Potomac Avenue station in Southeast D.C. early Wednesday. D.C. police arrested Isaiah Trotman, 31, of Southeast D.C., in connection to the shooting, according to a news release. Trotman is charged with first-degree murder while armed, kidnapping while armed and assault with a dangerous weapon (gun).

Boy in ‘critical condition’ after apparent overdose inside Arlington high school
Police in Arlington, Virginia, are investigating a drug overdose that happened in a high school bathroom. Police and fire department crews arrived at Wakefield High School on S. Dinwiddie Street on Tuesday around 9:30 a.m. for a report of an unresponsive boy. The boy was taken to the hospital, where police said he is in “critical condition.”
