A bar called High Horse is open in the former Do Drop Inn space at 1032 Story Ave., Louisville.

Louisville's High Horse bar is pulling the plug on its DJ nights after a reported shooting by the venue early Saturday morning, according to a release on its Facebook page.

The incident happened "outside" but close to the bar at 3 a.m., according to the post. No one was injured, but bar owners said in the post that they plan to make some programming changes moving forward.

"We will be shutting down the late night DJ scene, effective immediately," the bar's post said. "That was not what we set out to be and we will not tolerate violence."

The post did not elaborate on what took place, but Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley said officers had been called to the area early Saturday morning in response to a call about "an active aggressor shooting inside the location."

"Responding officers did not locate any victim(s) nor was there any active trouble when they arrived on scene," Smiley said in an email. In its post, High Horse owners said the response was "quick and appreciated."

"We have made security a priority to try and provide a safe place for people to dance and hang out on the weekends and we are sorry to take that way from the people that enjoyed it safely," the post said. "But we are not willing to risk safety to be that place."

High Horse is located at 1032 Story Ave., in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood. The 1970s-themed bar opened in late 2019 and has a large room that has hosted shows, DJ sets and other events in recent years. The venue also hosts events like open mic nights and monthly bingo games.

Moving forward, the post said High Horse will aim to serve as a "low key friendly neighborhood bar," with several events planned in December and at the start of 2023.
