Gmeinder, James "Jim" Edward June 24, 1943 - November 23, 2022 Our beloved dad died peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Everyone who met him knew that he was a kind, patient and gentle person who enjoyed spending hours talking with others. Jim was proud to be a Boy Scout, a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, and a veteran of the United States Army. He loved numbers and worked as an accountant for Control Data and US Bank. In retirement, he split time between his cherished cabin in Wisconsin and family condo in Arizona. He volunteered his time with the Soldier's Best Friend program and took nearly 100 trips around the world to deliver bone marrow for the National Marrow Donor program. Dad is preceded in death by his father Reverdy, mother Mary (Welsh), brother Joe, and sister Sue Sikora. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Sharon (Lorinser); children Kristen (Mike) Thompson, Mark James, Carrie (Nate), and Scott (Pheng) Gmeinder; adored grandchildren Lucas, Olivia, Jacob James Thompson, and Eva, June Gmeinder; sisters Kelly Weise and Barbara Farrell. Dad's charitable nature continues on as he chose to donate his body to the U of M's Medical School. A memorial service is being planned and a private interment will occur at a later date.
