CHRISTOPHER — Justin Durham’s senior season at Wayne City is off to a fantastic start. The 6-6 Durham followed up a 29-point, seven rebound effort in Tuesday night’s season opening win over New Athens, by just missing out on a triple with 15 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists, leading the Indians to a 59-40 win over Webber.

Wayne City will now face Waltonville Saturday night at 7:00 for the championship.

The Trojans got out a quick start, building a 17-8 lead after one quarter, but the Indians used a late push in the second, grabbing the lead when Koby Anderson knocked down a three-pointer off a kick out pass from Durham.

Wayne City’s lead was three at 32-29 late in the third, but the Indians scored the final five points of the quarter, including Chase Smith’s buzzer-beating three for a 37-29 lead after three.

Eight is as close as Webber would get the rest of the way, with the Indians pulling away for the 19-point win.

Webber’s Dylan French led all scorers with 18 points. Jonny Durham also reached double figures with 12 for Wayne City.

The Trojans will take on the host Bearcats in the third place game.
