The Texas Department of Public Safety has released new details following the fatal officer-involved shooting that took place Friday afternoon in Round Rock.
DPS has identified the suspect as 58-year-old Angela Nuckols from Pflugerville.
The incident happened a little before noon when DPS received information from the Round Rock Police Department that officers attempted to stop a stolen gray Nissan Altima earlier but lost site of the car near the 7800 block of the IH 35.
At some point, a DPS trooper located the stolen Nissan, that was being driven by Nuckols, on the southbound access road of I-35 near Westinghouse Road.
The Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Nuckols took off.
DPS says Nuckols at one point lost control of the car and crashed into another vehicle on Old Settlers Blvd just west of the IH 35 access road.
The vehicle came to rest in the grassy area off the south side of Old Settlers Blvd.
DPS says Nuckols exited the vehicle with a firearm, that's when the DPS trooper discharged his weapon.
Nuckols, age 58, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
DPS says Nuckols did have warrants out for her arrest at the time of the incident.
The driver of the other car that was struck had minor injuries and is expected to be okay.
The DPS trooper who fired the shot will be on leave for a period of time as the investigation occurs.
