Skull & Roses will return to the burnin’ shore April 19th–23rd, 2023 for a celebration of all things Grateful Dead. The festival will once again welcome back Dead bassist Phil Lesh for two headlining performances with some special Friends as well as Dark Star OrchestraOteil & Friends, and more.

Set to take place once again at the Venture County Fairgrounds in California—home to 11 Grateful Dead shows from 1982–1987—the fest will welcome esteemed Dead-centric acts like Melvin Seals & JGB (maintaining a perfect attendance at all five editions of Skull & Roses), Grateful ShredSages & SpiritsJerry’s Middle Finger, Stu Allen & Mars HotelBrown Eyed Women, Grateful Dead Hour host David Gans, and many more. S&R will also host many original acts as well including Leftover SalmonCircles Around The Sun, up-and-coming New Jersey quintet Dogs In A PileBoombox ft. Backbeat Brass, old-school 2000s jam favorite Moonalice, and many more.

Fans will enjoy uninterrupted music on a rotating turntable stage at the seaside concert site. This year’s expanded five-day celebration will feature theme celebrations (Bicycle Day, Four-Twenty, Chinese New Year, New Year’s Eve, and Mardi Gras), a classic “Shakedown Street” of artisans and vendors, and a new Oasis to stay cool all weekend.

For 2023, the festival will also offer a limited number of lodging packages with rooms at the nearby Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach and Ventura Beach Marriott. For those looking for the classic experience, there is also “Grateful Dead style” parking lot camping, or on the other end of the spectrum the “Primo” VIP experience with early entry, premium viewing, lounge access with a private bar, upgraded restrooms, discounts on official merch, and much more.
