COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A northeast Springs neighborhood is now reopened after it was shutdown Saturday morning due to a barricaded suspect.

Police responded to shots fired in the 3900 block of Thundercloud Drive near Research Parkway and Rangewood Saturday morning. An emergency alert went out to neighbors around 6:45 a.m. asking them to stay indoors or stay out of the immediate area until further notice due to police activity related to a barricaded suspect on Thundercloud Drive.

In an update around 8:30 a.m., police told 11 News that the area was reopened. Police said about 20 officers had been securing the area after receiving a call for shots fired at about 4:30 a.m. They said that while checking the area, they learned that some property had been struck by a round, and officers told our crew on scene that they believed the suspect may have possibly shot in the direction of police.

Police ask anyone who may have heard or seen anything out of the ordinary in this area Saturday morning to contact Colorado Springs Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
