Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: How to evolve Petilil into Liligant
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet has a lot of Pokemon in it and with it, a lot of different ways to evolve them. Whether you’re doing traditional leveling up like with the starter Pokemon, looking into the new evolutions for returning Pokemon such as Primeape or Girafarig, figuring out the new Pokemon like Gimmeghoul or Pawmo, or just trying to figure out how to get the right form of Lycanroc, there’s a lot to consider.
The adorable little Grass-Type Pokemon Petilil, for example, is one that requires a particular method to evolve. Level it up as much as you want but it’ll stay Petilil unless you know what it needs to evolve.
How to evolve Petilil into Liligant in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
To evolve Petilil you’re going to need to use an item knowns as a Sun Stone on it. With Petilil in your party, find a Sun Stone in your bag and use it on it and Petilil will evolve into Liligant. If you’ve been picking up the items you’ve seen littering the world you’ll more than likely have two or three of them by now. I know by the time I actually used one I was surprised to find out I had five of them.
Liligant is a pretty great Pokemon if you’re going to be doing a lot of doubles battles. It’s capable of learning many great helping moves like Helping Hands which goes first and gives your ally a 50% boost in attack damage. It can also learn Sunny Day which makes the sun shine brightly lowering the damage of some moves, raising the power on others, and, in something I literally learned while writing this, lowers the accuracy of Electric-type moves by 50%. When was someone going to tell me this?
Just keep in mind, Liligant isn’t that great for the campaign mode where you’re going to be fighting one-on-one the majority of the time with the exception of the Ghost Gym. Its attack stat starts weak and stays weak to level 100. Also, bare in mind that until Pokemon Home connects with the game spring of next year, there’s currently no way of getting the amazing Hisuian Liligant.
