The kids at Miranda 4-H are up to their usual good works. Besides helping decorate the Mateel Hall for the annual Community Thanksgiving party, the group also held a Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive.

Leader Shanna Archibold told us, “Our club also made Thanksgiving cards for the Skilled Nursing Facility residents & home bound seniors who get meals delivered from the Healy Senior Center.”

4H is a wonderful program for farm and ranch raised children! At least it was 60+ yearsback when I was in 4H (and FFA). Although me parents sold our farm critters against me wishes, I learned a lot that carried me into adult hood. We didn’t have a TV, used a treadle Singer, kerosene lamps, had an outhouse, and grew and raised/slaughtered our own foods. Prepared me for a life in Humboldt.

Question: Are foods that are packaged, unopened yet past their expiration date accepted?
I changed my eating habit a while ago and have some of the above. Not to limit my offerings to that, but I have been looking for a place to offer what I believe may be perfectly fine, ‘expired’ food to, and to this drive would be ideal.
