Human Society of Tulsa offers Black Friday adoption deal

TULSA, Okla. — On Friday, people filled the Humane Society of Tulsa (HST) as they kicked off their Black Friday event with $50 adoptions.

Adoption center manager Rachel Ward said all pets leave the shelter spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

“Everyone’s ready to walk out the door today,” Ward said. “There is an application process, so you’ll come in and apply, and we review your application with you. As long as you’re approved, you can leave same day.”

Ward said people can see pets available for adoption on their website and on Facebook.

One post had been shared nearly 200 times and resulted in a line at the door when they opened.

“We actually posted a dog named Toots yesterday,” Ward said. “He kinda broke the internet. We had like five or six people out here at 9 a.m., waiting to see him.”

Brian Conatzer was the lucky person who got take Toots home.

“Seen him on the internet the other night, and put an application in for him Wednesday night,” Conatzer said. “Looks like I’m going to take him home.”

He said shelters are the perfect place to find a new best friend, like Toots.

“I’d rather just save a dog than go buy a dog. These fellows need love too,” Conatzer said.

HST said their shelter is full, and more pets come to them needing help every day.

“Intakes never seem to slow for us. In fact, they really seem to be picking up, I think, across the state right now, and your shelters and rescues are really in need,” Ward said.

The Black Friday adoption deal lasts until the end of November.
