With the holiday season in full swing, El Paso has seen its fair share of tourists come into town.
KFOX14 spoke with tourists who visited from California and Oregon and they said El Paso is colder than expected but that will not stop them from enjoying the Sun City.
"I’m loving El Paso, cold weather, a little bit of snow flurries today it was nice," Jonathan Curtis said who visited from Los Angeles.
"It is absolutely bitterly cold I’m freezing here," said David Jordan, who visited from Orange County.
"It’s so beautiful it’s kind of colder than I expected but not as cold as back home but yeah it’s really nice so far," said Ana Perez, who visited from Oregon.
The cold weather continued in the Borderland.
Early in the morning, west El Paso saw snowfall.
Temperatures in the evening dropped to 30 degrees.
Tourists said they will continue to go out and explore the city but will be much more prepared.
"Just another down coat maybe a bigger hat than what I have on right now stay warm and get another cup of coffee," Curtis said.
"Layering up. Layering up is going to be my best friend and drinking some hot chocolate," Perez said.
"Go to a bar what else are you going to do?" Jordan said.
There were plenty of things to do and see in the Borderland.
The El Paso County Parks & Recreation Department, in collaboration with Fred Loya Partners L.P., presented the 2022 Holiday Lights on the Lake light show at Ascarate Park.
People who went to see the light display said they wore multiple layers to stay warm.
"I’m wearing layers that’s all I can do I left my hoodie in my car but all I can do is drink hot chocolate chill out and just enjoy the time," said Dominic Rimpell.
"Just try to have good spirit for the holidays. I’m always used to the cold, but just having good spirits is keeping me warm with my family," said Francisco Andrades.
The new partnership brought a festival feel to the park this holiday season with holiday vendors, food trucks, spectacular light shows and special holiday guests.
There were one million lights on display.
"I really liked them I've never seen that many lights before this is my first time coming here," said an El Pasoan.
