Man stabbed to death overnight in Fresno

A 60-year-old man died early Friday morning after he was found suffering from multiple stab wounds in Fresno.

Fresno police responded to a parking lot just after midnight in the 4400 block of North Cornelia Ave. for the report of an unresponsive male.

Officers located the man identified as Uvaldo Silva-Avalos suffering from multiple stab wounds near a dumpster.

EMS and Fire personnel provided medical aid on the scene but Silva-Avalos was pronounced dead on the scene.

Homicide detectives learned Silva-Avalos, who was a tenant at the location, was looking for recyclables in the garbage when an unknown person stabbed him multiple times.

Detectives are searching the nearby area for witnesses and video surveillance footage that might have captured the incident, as well as a motive.
