The driver of a Lamborghini Huracán and his passenger are lucky to be alive after their vehicle crashed and subsequently caught fire near Naples, Italy. Although the cause of the accident is unknown, videos shot before and immediately after the accident may provide some hints.
A video, taken from the perspective of the passenger, shows the Huracán speeding down a mostly empty highway. Shots of the speedometer show the car approaching 300 km/h (186 mph) and the video’s title claims they reached speeds of 320 km/h (199 mph).
The video then cuts to footage of the exterior of the car, smoking. As the camera pans to show the open passenger door and empty right side seat, a deployed airbag can be seen.

Walking around the car, we can see that the front right corner of the Huracán has experienced significant damage and the wheel appear to be missing. As the camera operator continues, a big chunk of grass can be seen in the left side grille, suggesting that the Lamborghini had an off-road excursion.
While the accident itself was not filmed, the extent of the damage, and the fact that both the driver and passenger appear to be largely okay, would suggest that it did not happen while the vehicle was traveling at 320 km/h (199 mph).
And thank goodness for that, because, according to a report from Fanpage, both occupants exited the vehicle safely before fire engulfed the car and burned it beyond recognition. The outlet further states that the car also hit the guardrail before coming to a stop.
The accident occurred on the A16 motorway between Naples and Canosa, heading west. A lane was temporarily closed to allow firefighters to put out the fire, backing up traffic for about a kilometer (0.6 miles).
