Thanksgiving night crash claims life of Prince George man

PRINCE GEORGE — Police are investigating a two-car crash Thanksgiving night that killed a Prince George man and injured two other people.

Officer Alexis Grochmal said in an email that the wreck happened around 8:20 p.m. in the 10700 block of Hines Road between Disputanta and Newville. A Mercedes sedan was southbound on Hines Road when it crashed head-on into a northbound Volkswagen sedan.

The Volkswagen's driver was identified as 73-year-old Donald Shriver of Prince George. Grochmal said he died at the scene.

Shriver was wearing a seat belt.

The driver and a passenger in the Mercedes were taken to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Their identities were not released.
