Woman carjacked at Cordova shopping center

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman’s car was stolen in a carjacking Friday at a gas station on Germantown Parkway, police said.

At 1:26 p.m., officers responded to a carjacking in the Trinity Commons shopping center at 676 Germantown Parkway.

The victim’s blue Nissan Maxima was taken, and she was transported to Methodist Germantown in noncritical condition.

A woman was carjacked at the fuel center at the Trinity Commons shopping center Friday.

The crime happened in broad daylight on Black Friday, traditionally the busiest shopping day of the year. Local law enforcement was out in full force in places like Wolfchase Galleria in Cordova to Tanger Outlets in Southaven trying to protect holiday shoppers.

“We got police patrolling walking in stores and we have a great security staff, so Tanger does real good, let’s say we have a theft or anything like that, all we gotta do is call security,” said Michael Taylor, store manager at Tanger.

That security put shoppers like Melissa Bourgoyne at ease while visiting the region.

“I told my friends, ‘God it’s looks like we on Bourbon Street,’ and the cop fell out laughing,” she said.” He said, ‘You’re from Louisiana.’ I said we are.”

Meanwhile, across Shelby County, Operation Jingle Bells is underway, where Sheriff‘s office and other agencies have joined forces to try and cut down on crime this holiday season, by increasing patrols in shopping center across the area.
