One killed, suspect apprehended after MS shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person is dead and another man in custody after a shooting in Sardis, MS on Friday.

The Panola County Sheriff said it happened near Belmont Road around 9:30 a.m. Two men were sitting together in a car when one man shot the other.

The car they were in crashed into the brick entrance of Belmont Road Estates.

When deputies arrived at the scene of the crash, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. His name was not released, but authorities said he was from Sardis.

Gadarrious Toliver, 23, was wanted by the sheriff’s office in the homicide.

Panola County Sheriff Shane Phelps said another passenger in the car pointed to Toliver as the suspect.

Toliver, aka Porkchop, was located Friday night at a vacant mobile home in the county.

The sheriff said Toliver will be charged with murder, and could face additional charges. He is expected to be arraigned Monday.
