BREAKING: 4-star DL Darron Reed flips commitment from LSU to Auburn
Four-star defensive lineman Darron Reed has flipped his commitment from LSU to Auburn.
Reed, from Carver in Columbus, Ga., announced his decision on Friday.
The decision doesn’t come as a big surprise. Reed, although committed to LSU since July, attended five Auburn homes games this season.
Despite being committed to LSU, Auburn never backed off and at one point was “coming with everything they’ve got,” Reed told Auburn Live in September.

Five visits later, he flipped his commitment.
“Auburn is a great school and I could be developed here,” Reed said after a visit in June. “Coach (Jimmy) Brumbaugh is a great coach and even better person. We’ve been building a relationship. He said I could play anywhere on the d-line, a little bit of everything.”
Reed is Auburn’s 12th commitment in the 2023 class. He’s ranked the No. 180 overall recruit in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3, however, is much higher on him. On3 ranks Reed the No. 40 overall recruit in the country, No. 6 defensive lineman in the country and No. 2 overall recruit in Georgia.

“Big-framed, long defensive lineman with the build and versatile skill set to project at multiple spots along the front. Checks in at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds with the frame and length to continue filling out. Would not be surprised to see him end up in the 300 pound range after some time in a college strength program.
“Lines up inside and at defensive end for Carver and excels at both spots. Shows off an explosive first step along with the on-field athleticism to track down ball carriers as a pursuit defender. Pairs that athleticism with strong hands and the ability to shed blocks in run defense. Had a strong junior season as a stalwart on the defensive line for a state finalist team.”
