Man dead in suspected hit-and-run in Roanoke

A man is dead in Roanoke after what police say is being investigated as a hit and run. The victim is not yet identified as law enforcement works to notify next of kin, but RPD said initial investigation indicates the fatality is from traffic in a hit and run. (WSET)
ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) —
A man is dead in Roanoke after what police say is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

Around 9:45 Friday morning, the Roanoke Police responded to a call about an injured person in the 5000 block of Salem Turnpike NW.
Officers arriving on the scene said they found an unresponsive man along the roadway. Roanoke Fire-EMS pronounced him dead on the scene.
The victim is not yet identified as law enforcement works to notify next of kin, but RPD said initial investigation indicates the fatality is from traffic in a hit-and-run.
The suspect vehicle has not been located yet.
