VIDEO: Bronx gas station worker shot point-blank in head critically injured

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Bronx gas station employee was critically injured after he was shot point-blank in the head by a masked gunman Thursday evening, authorities said.

The shooting happened at approximately 7 p.m. at a Sunoco gas station located at 2290 Boston Rd. in Allerton, officials said.

According to the NYPD, a 59-year-old employee was inside of a locked storefront at gas station when the alleged gunman approached the locked door.

The employee then opened the door to assist the suspect, who displayed a firearm.

The gunman then proceeded to discharge the firearm approximately two times, striking the employee once to the head.

The suspect fled the location on foot in an unknown direction.

EMS transported the worker to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he remains in critical condition.

The gunman was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black boots.
